Ship embarked, so long ago
Would never again return
With her captain and her crew
Lost, in the ocean’s churn
Some folks say they perished
When they threw him overboard
Warned too many times
Yet, they ignored the horde
Trusted him to do his deeds
Keep the other men in line
Someone ratted him out, tis said
When they saw him there, reclined
“Walk the plank, deceiver!”
They heard the captain roar
Pushed him to the edge
Unaware, he’d settle the score
The waters grew quite feisty
As the ship began to sway
Perhaps this wasn’t very smart
On this 10th October day
Legend says the one they tossed
Got his revenge on every man
And still, today, ships won’t sail
Upon that watery span
Still, once in a while, through fog
You can see the fiery spark
Beware, should you journey closer
The next thing you’ll seeβ¦..is dark.
