She recalls the past, so very clearly
Dates and times on which they’d occur
Memories are all she has, kept close
But this day, with me, is simply a blur
She laughs, about times, of long ago
Recalls moments, when life was hard
Until reality greets her, once again
And quickly, she puts up her guard
Refusing to let go, of all she holds dear
Oh, how she wants these moments to last
But I watch, as the days slip by, quicker now
As she stares, out the windows, of the past

Your writing evokes thoughts of my daily life
the life of being unable to hold on to simple thoughts
the life of trying to capture a wisp of smoke

My goodness, Pete, that is extremely poetic. I journeyed over to your blog to find out more about you, and I am now following. You are indeed a fascinating human being 🙂

Thanks, Chuck. So many of my friend’s have been touched by family members with dementia/Alzheimer’s, I felt the need for that post.
