OK, question, since I know I can ask you, and you won’t be upset lol Why do people comment “short” (usually on a haiku, which I find amusing). Isn’t poetry the thought of the writer/poet? There are no line constraints, as far as I know.

To me, it means that it is as good or better than long pieces, and just as powerful, if not more. Yes, poetry is the thought of the writer and no, there are no line constraints. There is a movement toward “instapoets” like Rupi Kaur who write brief poems suitable for instagram. Maybe brief is a better comment. However, calling haiku short is an indication that the commenter has no idea what a haiku is. We need to educate them. ☺❤

Ah, that makes perfect sense now. Thank you! As for the haiku, I’m right there with you on the education part. 5/7/5 not 5/8/3,,oy

You’re welcome. Oh, change of subject… Another of my poems will be on Vita Brevis on Nov. 1st, and Brian accepted my pitch to do an article on Sylvia Plath for his new section he’s going to do. He also wants one on why I write poetry. ☺❤
