I believe this is a Cooper’s Hawk. He was scoping out the backyard and found his prey. He had to come back for it though, once he saw me, he stopped & posed lol

I love to see hawks in wild places, but I sure don’t want to see them in my back yard. 😦

Not so lucky for the mourning dove he had for in his claws 😦 Survival of the fittest. He is now a daily guest in my backyard

Yes, sadly, they do prey on smaller birds. We had one that used to sit in the weeping cherry tree in the neighbors yard and come swooping in, pick off one of the little fellows at the bird feeder, and then swoop out again 😡

That’s the only part I have trouble with… I understand, but why can’t they eat nuts and berries like the others?? 😦
