My love lies strewn about me
Flowers grace the lake
Each one of them now signifies
The vows we’d never break
Yes, we were bound together
In sickness and in health
It’s the love we shared between us
That signified the wealth
We spent the days in harmony
But our favorite spot grew dim
And that is when I truly knew
That you had gone to Him
You left my side too early
I did not understand
Why God would take you from me
That wasn’t what we planned
Yet, I will visit, quite often
Speak to you, under the trees
And you can whisper back to me
With the softness of the breeze

Love this Dorinda! And to add to your other comment… thankfully you haven’t actually had to experience this! 🙂

Dorinda, that is so very poignant…. the power of love. Love that cannot be destroyed, not even by physical death.

Never…nothing can match the power of it! Thank you, Erika!

I think we can only understand this kind of power when experienced. You conveyed that so well in your poem!

Thankfully, I am not speaking from experience, only from those around who have lost a love too soon. Thank you again, Erika ❤

Oh, I thought it was not your personal experience. But that is what I so appreciate about your ability to write. You are very sensitive and you can feel beyond your own experience.
