She never liked the sound, twas always a nagging rustle
When she wore her longest skirt, over that annoying bustle
Wanting more freedom, from those cumbersome togs
She threw on her mini skirt, the kind in those catalogues
All the other women, looked at her, oh! Quite distraught
Melanie paid no mind, never giving it a second thought
In fact she found them amusing, all she could do was gloat
Knowing they’d never be happy, in those plastered petticoats

How often we impose on our fellow man
By simply robbing him blind, of his wares
Exploitation, abuse, since time first began
Yet, you still wonder why, nobody cares

Sunlight shines, an empty shrine
Casts shadows, on pavement, dark
There is not another soul in sight
The land lays silent, vacant, stark
Fences guard, who was once kept there
No access to the mortal human being
For only spirits know the true secrets
To release his soul, forever freeing
Listen, in quiet solitude, and wait
Though you may never hear a sound
Their presence fills this empty void
With a noise, that is quite profound

A
Bugler
Sadly blows
Musical strains
Of magic through brass
Plays a soldier’s lament
For those who battled for us
Triumphant, though many were not
He honors those who never came home
True heroes, on foreign soils, laid to rest
