A light shines through
Casting brilliance across worlds
Both old and brand new
Melting snow on the ridges
Growing green mountain sides
The intrinsical rebirth

I’ll be taking weekends off
To give my brain a rest
So when I come back
To share my words
I’ll simply be my best
The summer days are calling
It’s time to soak up sun
Relaxing with my family
Until the day is done
Enjoy it now, my dear friends
How summer really flies
Then days grow short and cold again
And you have to wonder why
You forgot to stop and breathe a bit
The time just slipped away
Catch it now, while you still can
Go outside and play!!

Standing by an open window
Soaking in the warmth and air
Breezing through my thoughts
And wondering just where
The hours have gone, passing by
Vanishing much too swiftly
No chance to get them back, you see
They left me here, too quickly
So I lean back and soak it in
As daylight turns to shade
Press my face against the glass
And watch the sunlight fade…

I sat upon the mountain top
Gazing down on the earth below
Basking in all the wonders of life
With the sun in the sky, aglow
A gentle breeze blew slowly past
Like the flutter of a butterfly’s wings
Turning my face toward its gentle caress
I could hear the woodlands sing
Their song, the sound of angel harps
Each chord, a gossamer string
Melodies fly on the wisp of a cloud
With the beauty of all God’s things

A hand flashes before me
As I step off the concrete
Into the tarry abyss of asphalt
Laying heavy under my feet
Painted white lines blur
Intertwined with bodies
Avoiding the influx of traffic
Haphazardly pushing by
Warning sounds provoke
Like a morning alarm clock
Playing a deafening melody
Out of sync, out of rhythm
The heartbeat of the city
And suddenly I am lost
Diverted to the left
That doesn’t seem right
Gridlocked
Pushing and pulling against
The flow of indifference
