In autumn’s nighttime

There is no sense of silver

When nature turns gold

You and me

In our favorite place

Me and you

Take up very little space

Nestled together

Holding hands

Ignoring the others

Those who withstand

The happiness we feel

In our own little world

Year after year

Where love is unfurled

Like sweet autumn air

The scents of the forest drift

Soothing restless souls

There wasn’t enough pepper in Hank

To open the jar, so he yanked

But the pickles remained

Never again to be strained

And that was the end, to be frank
