I did something yesterday that I haven’t done publicly before, aside from doing so on a friend’s Facebook post.  I actually commented on a news agency’s political posting regarding Governor Christie and the George Washington Bridge lane closings.  I can officially tell you that if you have ever wondered where all the trolls are hiding…I found them.  The question was; “Do you think Christie knew and if so could this hurt his chances at being POTUS?”  My comment was this; “Whether he knew or not, still happened on his watch and he needs to be held accountable.”  I’ve seen tigers take more time to pounce.  First, take into account the numerous likes on my post.  Some people actually agreed with me.  Imagine that.  Now follow down to the “trolls”.  These are the people who lie in wait for the next available prey.  They hit my friend, who posted before me, first, then me.  Basically, what it came down to in their eyes is 1). Hillary Clinton & Pres. Obama should not be held accountable for their actions. (I’m guessing she’s referring to Benghazi.  Way to stay on topic).  2). The ever popular phrase ‘what difference does it make’,  3). It was only a road closure so no one is to blame. (tell that to the hundreds of drivers stuck in traffic for hours for no apparent reason), and last, but certainly not least, 4). Someone trying to assure me she was not nuts.  She would have done better by saying nothing.

This is only a small sampling of why this country is in the mess it’s in.  Primarily caused by people who think it’s okay for politicians to just walk away from whatever mess they, or their staff, those of whom they are responsible for, may have created and not be held accountable for their actions.  And I say this because these people will continue to put those political figures back in the saddle, over and over, no matter how many times they fall off their high horse.  And yet, these will be the same people complaining about how poor a job said cowboy is doing.  I always wonder what exactly someone sees when they support a candidate.  Is it the promise of a better life, or of the troops coming home for good, or lower taxes?  When you finally realize it’s all ploy to get you to vote for their candidate, maybe, just maybe, we’ll start to see a change.

Until then, look around you and see that things are not OK at the corral…..

Are We A Nation In Despair? – A look back at 2013

The year 2013 has been one filled with sorrow, lies and cover ups.  We hoped for change, for government transparency, for some honesty.  We got nothing.  What we got were people so desperate that they resorted to violence as the only option. School shootings, mall shootings, knock down games, it goes on and on.

Image

In 2013 alone, there were a total of 25 school shootings.  Not all of these made headlines, in most cases the only death was the shooter.  It is, however, just as traumatizing to students and faculty when they have to witness a suicide.  And if you reflect back, it was most likely a good thing that we didn’t know about these other shootings.  Those crazed individuals didn’t get their 15 minutes of fame.  Something the media needs to get a handle on.  Continuously showing a shooting, and concentrating only on the shooter, glorifies the individual.  They deserve nothing.  The victims, the heroes, they’re the ones who deserve the spotlight.

The big debate of the year was and still is Obamacare.  A healthcare system that doesn’t work and yet continues to be pushed on the American people.  Aside from the obvious issues, such as the website constantly crashing, people are speaking out about the high deductibles, some claiming their older plans had better coverage for less.  Single, young males and the elderly are questioning why they have to pay for maternity benefits.  Last I checked, males and menopausal women can’t give birth.  And there is no opt out for this coverage.  So what it comes down to is Obamacare is relying on the young & elderly to fund this healthcare debacle.  “If you like your health plan, you can keep it.  If you like your doctor, you can keep him” ~ Barak Obama.  A man who obviously had no idea what he was talking about.  Or he did and just blatantly lied to the American people.  You decide.

More lack of government discernment saw the cover up of the deaths of US Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others during an attack on the American Embassy in Benghazi.  We were told the attacks happened because of an anti-Islam YouTube video.  What we later found out is that the ambassador and his aides had requested more security, claiming the area was becoming increasingly unstable.  Their pleas went unanswered.  And yet President Obama and then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton stood in front of the American people, on national television, and lied.  Lied to families of the dead, lied to cover up their ineptness surrounding this tragedy.  One year later, questions still remain unanswered.

On a side note, with nothing to do with the politics of America, 2013 also saw the losses of some of entertainments greats such as actors Peter O’Toole, Joan Fontaine, Eleanor Parker, Paul Walker, Marcia Wallace, Karen Black, Eileen Brennan, Dennis Farina, & James Gandolfini, television host Sir David Frost,  former South African president Nelson Mandela, musicians Lou Reed, Eydie Gorme, J.J. Cale, Sid Bernstein & Slim Whitman.  There were others, too many to list here, but all notable for their craft.

As we come to the end of the year, we can only hope that 2014 will bring about change.  Change in the way the media handles tragedy.  Change in the way the government relays information.  Change, in that Americans take back their country.  As long as we allow the politicians to make our decisions, we will be prisoners to their antics.  We need to take a stand.

If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under. ~ Ronald Reagan

Benghazi – Still looking for truth one year later

Do you wonder, as have I, that all the controversy surrounding the healthcare web site isn’t just more fluff to cover up other happenings in Washington?  On Sunday, South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said he would continue to block all of Obama’s nominees for executive branch positions until he gets the answers he’s looking for regarding the September 11, 2012 attacks in Benghazi, Libya, that left US Ambassador Chris Stevens and three others dead.

Many questions remain unanswered.  Interviews with survivors are as harrowing as the actual attacks.  Those who witnessed the events, and made it out alive, remember seeing Stevens lying there, dead.  They remember asking the government for aid, that things were unstable in the area.  And they remember nothing being done.

Testifying about the attacks, then Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is best remembered for her statement “What difference at this point does it make?”.  This is in line with Kathleen Sebelius’s comment of “whatever” when asked if the president was responsible for the healthcare debacle.  Again, America was lied to.

In an interview with Fox News, Senator Graham said, ““I don’t think it’s over the top to find out what happened to four dead Americans, I don’t think it’s over the top to talk to survivors. The State Department interviewed these survivors.”

Image

Why haven’t we heard this before?  Why is there still such silence regarding these attacks? President Obama & Hillary Clinton stood with their hands over their hearts, next to flag draped coffins, and continued to push the story about a video being the cause of the attacks.  Tweets  from CBS’s  60 Minutes, in fact, point to information leading up to the 9/11/12 attacks, stating, “Prior to the attack, Ambassador Stevens approved a cable to DC that said: “The al Qaeda flag has been spotted…flying over govt bldgs” also stating that a security official warned Ambassador Stevens, ““You are going to get attacked in #Benghazi,” three months prior to the actual event.

In an administration that claimed transparency throughout the Obama campaigns, we simply seem to be facing more lies and more cover ups, rather than the honesty the American people are looking for.  We have to wonder, what else are they not telling us?

Dear Mr. President…

Dear Mr. President,

Why?

Sincerely,

An angry citizen

Seem like a vague question?  It’s not.  It’s the viewpoint of many Americans , who continually ask why the president of the United States cannot answer their questions.  Why the man who promised transparency in government is shrouded in secrecy regarding such matters as national security, the attacks in Benghazi, and of course, his Affordable Healthcare Act, dubbed, Obamacare.

Image

If this were to occur in any other major corporation,  the CEO, CFO, COO would more than likely be voted out by board members.  Aren’t we the board members?  After all, didn’t he win a majority that landed him his second term, based on American votes?  Actually, no, he didn’t.  We, the people, have the right to vote, and yet we do not.  Instead, we have an Electoral College.  THEY are the ones who decide who becomes President & Vice President of the United States.  So what are we voting for?  I always thought it was because we had a voice, a right to be heard.  But we really don’t where this is concerned.  We have a voice on a local level, electing mayors, governors, senators, etc.  But on the most important level, where it really does matter who we refer to as our Commander in Chief, only a select few are allowed to decided for the millions of us who vote, who gets the honor of this prestigious title.

Regarding the Electoral College, Wikipedia gives the definition of an Elector as follows;

Electors are apportioned to each state and the District of Columbia, but not to territorial possessions of the United States, such as Puerto Rico and Guam. The number of electors in each state is equal to the number of members of Congress to which the state is entitled,[4] while the Twenty-third Amendment has granted the District of Columbia with the minimum number of electors permissible for a state, which is currently three. In total, there are 538 electors, based on there being 435 representatives and 100 senators, plus the three electors from the District of Columbia.

It further says “A number of constitutional amendments have been proposed seeking to alter the Electoral College or replace it with a direct popular vote.”

Now we’re talking!!  Why hasn’t this been brought to the front of arguments regarding the election of President & Vice President.  Who are these people who are allowed to speak for us?  And why do we flock to the polls every four years, hoping for change?
