Hello, Friends,

As most of you know, I have been caring for my mom the past two weeks.  I get the chance to write when my daughter kicks me up to my office 🙂  Lately, the words aren’t there, as exhaustion has all but taken over the day to day.  I am trying to read as many of you as I can, but I’m finding that a bit overwhelming as well.  I so miss all of you and your beautiful words.  It will be weeks until I am able to come back on a regular basis, but I know you’ll all still be here.

Thank you to everyone who commented and personally messaged me about Mom.  Your support through all things simply amazes me and I love you all for it.  And thank you for continuing to read my somewhat sporadic poems.  This really is a great family ❤

Time Off

Good morning friends,

I will be taking some time off from posting to my blog to care for my mom.  She fell on Monday and fractured her T12 vertebrae (her back).  She’ll be spending the next several weeks with me and my family as we get her back on the road to recovery.  Those of you who know me, know my family always comes before all else.  You’ll forgive me if I don’t have a chance to read your wonderful words every day, but I know you’ll understand.  I have a few posts scheduled and those will go off as planned.  I’ll try to get to your comments as soon as I can.

Shaken to Dust

I cry another tear
As I watch the sky
Darkened by terror
And the clouds weep
Draining their wrath
Over the lands, exhausted
By the fires that burn
In the evil that dwells
And yet, we watch,
As another brother loses
And the devil wins again
Taking and taking, never
Relenting, never a hesitation
For as long as these men
Shall shed their own blood
We shall never know love
The brotherhood, once
An almighty power, has
Been shaken to dust,
Battled to the death,
Relinquished peace…..

Summer Weekends

It’s that time of year again, Summer!!  I’ll be taking weekends off, starting today, through Labor Day Weekend.  It gives me time to refuel and spend some much needed down time with the hubby!  I hope you’ll still come to visit, even though I won’t be home.. but the door is always open at Night Owl Poetry. 🙂
