Cold, creamy frozen confection
swirled in a glass chamber
drenched in warm fudge
oozing down the sides
sprinkled with pieces
of colorful confetti, covered
in billowing clouds
of luscious cream
topped with crimson

Like a moth to a flame
I am drawn to you
Knowing if I get too close
You will burn me
Yet I fly ever closer
Unafraid to feel the fire

A Crowded Room

Tags

crowd, loneliness, Night Owl Poetry, poems, poetry

She is standing
in the middle of a room
filled with blank faces

Gesturing hands move about
in a strange rhythmic pattern
speaking in silence

She looks around
hoping to catch an eye
but no one sees

Surrounded by many
she is alone in the crowd

Play Ball

America's past time, baseball, hot dogs, Night Owl Poetry, poems, poetry

The smell of freshly cut grass
People hawking hot dogs
steaming in a basket
Cotton candy in pink & blue
Ice cold beer to ease the heat
as the sun blazes down

He stands at the plate
waiting for the perfect moment
as the pitch comes in
and the bat connects
sending the small round object
sailing through the skies
over the fences

The roar of the crowd
sends your adrenaline soaring
along with the ball
As the next batter approaches
and the rush begins again

black widow, death, Night Owl Poetry, poems, poetry, spider, web

Like a spider carefully
spinning her web
weaving an intricate maze
She centers herself in hopes
of making the ultimate catch
and he’s drawn to her
until he cannot escape
as she wraps her blanket
around him in
an everlasting grave
