Antiseptic, the smell of death
Lingering, acrid fumes invade
Thoughts, no longer the calm
Of a life, no longer vibrant
Bells, alarms, invading silence
Nighttime falls, eternal sleep
The room, stifling with stale air
Yet, a subtle breeze blows
As curtains hang, world-weary
Watching a soul fly, into the light….
Author’s note: This poem came to me while I was in the hospital twice over the weekend. I hope I don’t return anytime soon…

((Dorinda)) your poem is delicate, with each line standing at attention with observation. ‘As curtains hang, world weary’ …Spectacular description!

Oh my goodness, Dorinda. I didn’t know you were in hospital. That makes five bloggers I know, all poets, who have been in hospital during the past week. What is going on? Sending you healing thoughts and prayers.

I didn’t tell anyone, Robbie. Maybe it’s a secret meeting of the poets. LOL Not exactly the right place for it though. Thank you, my friend. ❤

I’m with ya..every time I’ve had to go in that place….the feeling of your vulnerability of your body is to death is always looming in your mind there…even that of others in the hospital!👌🏾 great…you had to express it someway and I hope it helped get through the ordeal.
