Diana, of Myths of the Mirror has a new feature on her blog called, “Speculative Fiction Writing Prompt.” Please visit the link above to find out more about the challenge, then join in the great fun!
I’m drawn to the darkness hanging in the sky, did my moon eclipse the sun? And what of this wanderer, tis I, but am I to be the chosen one? To watch, as light escapes from the clutches, of an ebony orb, up high; drawing me closer, as my soul, it touches, and still I can’t help wonder why.
I feel the vibrations flowing to Earth, could it be I am meant to depart? Will this beacon of light ever show me my worth, or will it swallow up my heart? The nearer I get to this magical sphere, whose presence has not moved an inch; I can only imagine why it holds me so dear, oh, these goosebumps that so make me flinch! I can’t turn away from the beauty above, I am hypnotized by its power; in the distance, the soft coo of a mourning dove, alas, I grow weary, in my final hour.

I really enjoyed the descriptive movement of your poetic prose. It was beautifully complimented by the image and vice versa. Great read thank you 😊 ❤️

Nicely written! And I find it intriguing that I hadn’t had time to read any of the posts this month, and yet, our stories match in many words/ways 🙂

Hi Dawn. Thank you. I make it a point to never read any of the posts before I post my own. Your site is private ☹️ I requested an invite.

Great story! It’s a perfect flash that extinguishes itself like a candle at the last of its wick – gentle, ready, accepting.

Your poem speaks of death, but not in a scary way. It’s peaceful. A lovely poem.

Poetic prose! I really like the way you did wove all the rhyming into the story, Dorinda. It made me want to see it as a poem too. I think we would be asking ourselves those questions. Thanks so much for taking up the prompt! I’ll get it all lined up to share. 🙂
