Morning awakens from its slumber
Shaded, misty blue, against the night
Quietly, I sit in this tree to ponder
What it is that summons me to the light

I find myself in this solemn place
Each day, it grows much stronger
The feeling I get, when I am here
How I wish it would stay much longer

But the frost’s below me, on the ground
The telltale signs of winter’s calling
Bringing emptiness to autumn trees
As all at once, the leaves stop falling

Seeds of solitude, embrace me
Though your leaves have turned to brown
May I stay here with you, upon this limb?
I’ve no desire to ever get down
