Hollywood called her Marilyn Monroe
Though her name was Norma Jeane
But that would never befit a star
This siren, of the silver screen
Sensuality made her famous
They would melt, with just a wink
Abused by those around her
Found her on the edge, the brink
Pills would ease the torture
That went on inside her head
Until the day they found her
A body, lifeless, across the bed
Her light had now been dimmed
After years of sheer neglect
But Marilyn would, forever, remain
A shining star, with a touch of perfect

Very very nice tribute. I can really feel the Indepthness of her sorrows after looking through her biographies. What a precious lady. Norma Jean was her name and Marilyn was her fame.

Very nice poetry. 🙂
Weird that the Kennedy brothers likely abused her.

Great Post, Dorinda! Loved your verses and message! Hey, I was hoping you had included a link to Elton John’s “A Candle In The Wind”?? Might you be tempted to update with it! Ha,ha??

Thanks, Chuck. I love “Candle in the Wind” and was humming it the entire time I was writing this, but chose to let the poem stand alone. 😉
