One lonely lantern, set the stage, for a show
Dotting each flower, with its luminous glow
Making the darkness dance, in the light
Like dozens of fireflies, to brighten the night
Silently, beguiling, with its magic, it creates
Peaceful and calming, each moment, sedate
Never really alone, with its radiance, incandescent
This one little light, making moments, effervescent

Did you ever catch them in jars? I never did. I always thought that was cruel!

I never did, and I didn’t even realize they existed until I was 18 years old. Lol… We didn’t have them in California, and I just always assumed they were creatures of fairy tales. Then when I went to live with my dad in Virginia, I saw them for the first time as my plane was landing and I was in shock. I had no idea what the little lights were that were flickering in the sky. It was a very magical moment for me and I still remember it like it was yesterday.
