Hello friends!
WordPress has me so frustrated right now. I am discovering, more and more, that bloggers I have been following forever, are disappearing on me. Apparently, WP has decided, for me, to unfollow them. Why? I have no clue, but I just discovered another one. This needs to stop.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

I’ve been reliably informed
that Twitter recently started
shutting down suspected bot sites, and inadvertently affecting legitimate ‘tweeters’.

Oh, I hope you took pictures!!! That must have been magnificent! As for Twitter, they’ve been getting into a lot of trouble for various reasons. Nothing surprises me anymore.

Yes, someone else said that, too. That’s nuts! I think Drew had the right idea, though. The “cookie” bar at the bottom, if you tap too many times, you’re tapping the follow button at the same time.

Well, i’m not at all much into having an ego; nonetheless, i hope that i don’t disappear! 🙂
I sure hope you get this figured out!

What does an ego have to do with this? You lost me there. I’m upset because I’m missing out on friend’s posts, people I’ve followed since I joined here. 😦

I was just trying to humorously say that i sure hope that i don’t disappear from you! I sure do empathize with what you are going through and feel that much of what Cindy said may be true… W/P Programmers functioning as IT people and not lit and write/reader folks such as what we are. Sure hope that you get this resolved and that this disappearing ceases!

Same for me as well. I thin it is happening to everyone. The geniuses at wordpress have placed that close and accept box for cookies write over the follow button. So people are inadvertently unfollowing if they hit the button twice.

OOOOH! I never thought of that. you’re right. I wish there was a way to just say yes to everyone at once and not every single blog, one at a time!

Have had this happen a few times. It’s frustrating, to say the least. Now I have to go and check through my list again, just in case I am missing some great posts.

Thanks! And Welcome! I hope it gets resolved. I would hate the new folks to experience it while they’re trying to build up their presence!! Best of luck to you!

Email WP and ask them if there is a limit to the number of bloggers who can follow you? And is there a limit to the number of blogs you can follow?
Also ask them what would cause them to remove a follower from your blog. (I would imagine they would say blogs that “act like” spammers, or bloggers who truly do bad stuff).
The problem is that ‘acting like a spammer,’ can just mean being very active on a blog, ie., reading lots of blogs, commenting a lot on blogs, following and interacting with lots of bloggers. AKA being an involved and successful blogger!
I think the problem may well be the WP programmers were/are IT people, not lit and writer/reader folks. They have no idea how much written material we had to consume in grad school daily, how much we had to write ad nauseum, laughing…….. so when they see us doing this they think we are bots or spammers. They maybe ought to tweek their algorithms to account for faster synthesizing folks, or we are doomed to regularly be deemed bots or spam.
I would love to know their answers and hope you post them!

I’m waiting to see what Michael (O.D) finds on the forums. if nothing there, I will definitely be asking!! I know bloggers who have a high number of followers, much more than I do, and they’ve not experienced this. It just seems very odd.

Yes! I’ve had that problem, plus this one: WP stops sending email notifications on followed blogs, and some have stopped showing up in my reader – even though it shows I’m still following them. Sometimes it fixes things if you unfollow and re-follow. Argh!!

I can’t even imagine doing that. I follow so many blogs!! And yes, I’ve had that happen with emails also. Except, I found out they were going in to my spam folder. Why all of a sudden, I have no idea, but nothing surprises me anymore.

I too have had legitimate comments show up in spam. Let us know what you can find out. There doesn’t seem to be any pattern to it…. it’s all arbitrary. Drives me nuts too! 😵

It’s not a spam issue though. They are actually unfollowing blogs on me. It’s nuts. 😳

Yes, same here! Everyone I know seems to be having this (and other) problems this last year or two. I’ve been here seven years and it wasn’t a problem the first few years. Comments landing in spam has always been a problem though.
