How many of you like to write to word prompts? Do you find it helps get the muse going, or sometimes you just need a little push in the “write” direction?
When I started my blog, I didn’t use prompts because I thought they took away from my inner self, that I was somehow cheating. Boy, was I wrong!!
What in the world is she babbling about, you’re asking?
Since September, I have joined in with Michelle from Her Writing Haven and Putting My Feet in the Dirt. Each month, ~M, as she is known to some, puts up writing prompts. I decided to try it out and I’m having a blast (now with October)!! Michelle’s prompts can be serious, lighthearted and quirky, all at once. You can go in any direction!
I invite you to join ~M (and me) as we sail through October. Here are the prompts for the month: October Writing Prompts
I hope to see more of you, and don’t forget to link back to the original post found above, so we can all read what you’ve written. It’s a great way to meet new bloggers.
OK, I’m done 😉

I was exactly the same… tempted to write posts linked to word prompts but felt they may take focus away from my ultimate goal to write that blockbusting novel (coughs) ….
but then I read some other bloggers’ interpretations of a single word. They were so varied and rich. Some just a few words; less is more type idea and they work. Others were traditional poems. Many were micro stories, and some even where the word just incorporated into a muse.
Genius idea.
I love a word prompt … keeps your brain ticking over 🙂

It’s taken me a couple of days, but I’ve caught up to the date. I just completed prompt 24. I’ve loved every minute of it. It has given me the daily inspiration I look for with my writing so I’m going to go looking for writing prompts every day….as well as chasing your wonderful options down. Thanks so much for being a great inspiration.

Oh come on, you’re never done. ~giggle~ I’ve done a couple, but if a prompt is about something I don’t want to write about, then I don’t. Perhaps I am fortunate that I seem to have a wonderful source of things to write about… Love, life, music, grief, words or phrases I’ve seen or heard, life, and on and on. Most of my poetry is about love, passion, romance… If I try to write using a prompt, it usually turns out to be something that’s not me. I do, however, love what you and Michelle come up with 😃💛

That’s my point! You could make anything sound romantic. Even tomorrow’s spilt milk lol. I understand. It’s exactly how I write, but lately the prompts help the muse, and I’m fine with that 🙂
