No air fills my lungs
I breathe in, taking all I can
Slowly, yet glutinous, never enough
To bring me back from the depths
Nor revive me, still
I struggle, gasp, in the non-existent
My eyes, blank, like the night sky
Clouded over, light diminished
Never to return, forgotten
Like a rag doll, I struggle
To find the time, that time
When the world was beautiful
And so was I

Melancholic but beautiful and thought-provoking. It reminds me of “Memories” from the musical Cats!
